Whats up guys! I’m here to share first impressions about Polkadot and its ecosystem. I heard about Polkadot a long time ago but I haven’t really got into it. On Thursday, by chance, I was lucky to be on its meetup session with a great speaker Harem and very kindly organizer Angela (hi to you guys:)) and I became really excited. I’m not going to explain what is Polkadot really about but will try to cover all things about this beautiful meeting.
Presentation. Harem told about general idea of Polkadot & Kusama and also covered a new form of governance which is called Governance 2.0. In the near future there would be no council and comitee which means that all voting power will belong to community. He also described what is treasury and how it actually works. And, of course, Harem showed how to do or monitor proposals in a real-life time.
Q&A. After presentation of Governance 2.0 we had a really engaged discussion about how it would be implemented and what would be with user’s assets if relay chain, for example, shut down. Harem called Parity developer (Parity Technologies — company which develops Polkadot) and he told us about everything related to this questions.
Networking. By the end of Q&A session more and more people had come and we moved to the big table with different snacks and drinks. It is unnecessary to say how many interesting people I met because the answer is obvious — a lot! Developers, head of communities, NFT designers and etc.
Food. It has really deserved special mention. I have never attended crypto meetups with such a great variety of delicious food. Hamburgers, sandwiches, fruits, cookies, cakes — list is endless. Everything is hot and just prepared and, of course, there was a kind waiter ready for help.
